Self-Justification

"You yourselves will not be the speakers; the Spirit of your Father will be speaking in you" (Matthew 10:20).

A pastor friend once told me, "True meekness is lack of self-justification." I had gone to him about a lady in the church who was grafting onto the grapevine all sorts of rotten rumors. We all wanted some holy revenge. His statement helped us realize that revenge was God's business, not ours. I also recalled something I had read years before: “Don’t complain and don’t explain.”

An elderly lady friend of mine who lived in a high-rise for senior citizens became the target of gossip and her very Christian reply was, "Well, if they aren't talking about me, they'll be talking about someone else." This is another noble thought when we suspect that we are being torn to shreds.

If we know that the Spirit of our Father speaks through us, we will be less inclined to mount a defense when we confront an offence. No less a person than Jesus is our example: "The high priest rose to his feet before the court and began to interrogate Jesus: `Have you no answer to what these men testify against you?' But Jesus remained silent; he made no reply"( Mark 14:60,61).

Jesus knew that time would prove His love.

Pet Loss, the Inspirational Story of My Dog Companions

There I was, standing in the veterinarian’s office looking at the X-Rays she had placed up on the lighted wall, hearing news that every pet owner dreads. “Do you see this tumor right here?” she said. “It’s what’s taking up all the protein in his blood and causing him to vomit and have the diarrhea. It’s inoperable, too large. There’s nothing to ...

Reach Your Potential

Many of us are unaware of what our possibilities are. We often sell ourselves short believing we haven't much to offer. We think. "if we were smarter or prettier or more handsome, life would be so much better." We look up to others and wish we could be like them. We don't understand God's plan. He made each of us just the way He intended. He ga ...

If I'd Only Known

An ordinary, busy day had come to an end. After saying my prayers, I rolled over and dozed off, and before I could find a dream, the phone rang.“Hello,” I answered groggily. Are You Letting Your Worrying Kill You?

I recently came across an interesting statistic. Now generally, statistics can be very misleading, but they can give us some insight if we don’t get ourselves worked into a twit over them. Anyway, I read that 85 - 90% of the population worry about something on a consistent basis. People worry about:· their health · their career or jo ...

Your parents cannot build a wall around you to keep you safe from everything that can hurt you. Five Years After 9/11 - Life in a World of Illusions

When was the last time you couldn't believe your eyes? Is this a movie? It was just too outrageous to be real ...
